Walking out of the post office, someone yells, “You have a beautiful smile,” as I walk past their car. Pulling out of my end-of-a-lousy-day-stupor I pause and look over at the car across from me.
I didn’t realize I was smiling. It truly was a lousy day, and I had just given myself a pep-talk, coming out of the post office. “Lift your head, shoulders down and back. You are an overcomer, child of the one true God.”
I did just that, lifting my head, shoulders straight, down, and back, apparently smiling as I did so.
“Thank you. You are so kind.”
“I felt I was supposed to tell you that.”
“You must believe in God.”
“I certainly do,” she smiles.
“Seek Him in everything you do,” a Marine posted recently. I’ve been doing just that, looking for God everywhere, in everything.
BAM. He hits me right square in the face with His wonder and grace. I didn’t even have to look for Him.
She’s originally from Georgia. We bond as transplanted Southerners.
Parting ways she asks if she can do anything for me.
“Pray."
She can do that.
“Keep smiling,” she encourages.
I can do that.
I continue looking for Him, in everything, everywhere.
He loves each of us beyond measure.
