In retrospect I should have known something was off. I have great instincts, as does mom, we just do not utilize them often enough. Well, I activate my instincts way more than mom. Heck, I'm on
guard all day every day. Johnny wanted to come over and play, spend some time with me. Of course, Johnny, I would like to spend time with you, and mama does not mind. She's hypervigilant when I
have a friend over to play, but she likes to see me romping about, all frisky and such. So, come on over. I bet mom will even give us a treat or two.
Johnny acts weird from the start. A night roaming critter, he shows up in broad daylight. He appears freshly groomed. Johnny is a rough dog, not a scoundrel really, or a mutt, let's just say he doesn't worry about appearances. Johnny was adopted from the pound and was passed from one home to another. His has been a tough life, but I believe that's what makes him special. He attended all the best obedience schools and can act very much like a gentledog. I like Johnny and would bite for him. Besides, I'm always ready to play, as mom and I work, a lot. Playtime is precious time.
Johnny runs around checking all the p-mail, he wouldn't be still for a minute. He tells me he was hauled to the pound to speak with the Big Dogs, something about being off leash. Oh Johnny, this can't be good. Yeah, well they know who you are, Maggie Rose. Gasp, NO! I'm an innocent Schnauzer, a good girl...most of the time. I didn't bark or anything, I was very quiet when he spoke. I tried to lighten the mood with silly jokes, as I'm prone to do. (I'm goofy, just like mama.) He told me the question I should be asking is why the Big Dogs would be listening to my private moments, when I'm sleeping and snoring, rolling over for tummy rubs.
Why would I ask questions, argue about something that may be a complete fabrication? Johnny, are you spinning yarns?
A non-answer is an answer. Not barking WAS my answer. I didn’t even know questions to ask. I have a hundred questions now, but now doesn’t matter. Oh Johnny, stop marking everything, and get to the point.
I asked questions previously, and almost never received answers. Why ask ANY questions?
It’s not my fault, if it’s true, someone chose to invade my privacy, my home, my kennel.
The last time I saw Johnny he was hiking his leg, relieving himself one more time, and then POOF, he disappeared into the night.
I liked that dog.
Until next time,
Maggie Rose Canine Detective 🐾
