She messages me late one evening. She originally from another country. She's learning Texans are a whole other breed. (She is one heck of a cook in her own right, sharing homemade baklava with me during the holidays. So, so good. She's also taught me better ways of preparing spanakopita, one of my favorite treats. And finally, I learn from her phrases in other languages. You know I love to learn a new phrase or two in other languages.)
Texans amuse, confuse, frustrate, and encourage. We fight for others, family, friends, and those willing to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Loyal and faithful, sometimes to a fault if that's even possible.
The infamous Texas sink she ran across reminds her of yours truly.
Every time I see this sink, I think how hard it would be to clean El Paso, the Panhandle, and Brownsville. Texans unapologetically love
Texas shaped everything: waffles, chips, chicken nuggets, pancakes, and so much more. My personal favorite, Texas shaped muffins. I actually own a cast iron muffin pan. My dear friend OMG's me, needing a Texas shaped muffin. Soon. Soon I will bake muffins or maybe delicious Texas shaped beer bread. And when I bake with my beautiful Texas muffin pan, El Paso is indeed a challenge to clean.
Perhaps I'm now drooling. Or not. Bad visual.
I love you, Texas my Texas.
