Oh my heart ...memories.
My daughter told someone years ago her mama has the softest heart of anyone.
She's probably right, sometimes to my detriment.
Don't misunderstand — academics are a big deal.
Balance.
Teach them to fight like hell, when necessary, stand their ground.
Give them every tool they will need to survive and thrive.
Balance.
My kids inherited a couple good traits from me:
Love of others, caring individuals, serving others.
Sarcasm and wit, sense of humor off the charts.
Desire to continue learning.
I love all y'all. Big.
From February 20, 2017:
Far from a perfect parent, I've often reflected on what I could have done better, without feeling the condemnation that tries to sneak in. The ONE thing I know to be true, without any doubt, my kids were taught respect and each of the characteristics listed here. They are no respecter of persons. Treating all with dignity and respect regardless of age, ability, race, or economic status, THIS will be my legacy as their mom. This and the ability to make them laugh.
Not a bad legacy.
