Recently I watched mamas celebrating their seniors. I can’t tell you how much I LOVED these brave ladies. Dancing like no one was watching, tumbling like they were sixteen years old. They absolutely killed it.
My dear friend shared, “I’ve determined if we didn’t quit playing so soon in life our physical and mental health would be sooooo much better.”
She’s right. I promise.
We get so caught up in the seriousness of life, trying to do the right thing, raising our families, and often failing miserably (in our opinion — we are merciless, self-criticizing ourselves), smothering our loved ones all in the name of protecting them.
We lose ourselves sometimes.
Dear friend’s profound statement, which I know personally to be factual: “Being older doesn’t mean anything except that you’re getting older. Okkkkk??? Andddd??”
So. What.
I began playing again, while also working as hard as ever to rebuild my life. The last ten years have been the best years. Don’t let anyone tell you getting older is a bad thing. My dear friends it only gets better.
Dance, love, live life with enthusiasm even in the face of adversity, especially in the face of adversity. Your family needs you to thrive, not just survive.
