Huberman did it again.
Again, I stumbled upon a podcast I wasn’t searching for.
Dr. Alia Crum: Science of Mindsets for Health and Performance
Not an elite athlete nor military specialist, my goal is to learn until I take my last breath. I've unknowingly worked out with elite athletes and military types. In the process I pushed my vintage self-harder because I felt I wasn't keeping up: if they could do it I could do it. Poor mama, I didn't have a clue. Here's the deal: my mindset changed, especially when I learned the caliber athletes I was working out with, side by side.
"I've never been an athlete," I confide to one heavy hitter.
"That doesn't mean you can't be an athlete now."
What the what?
She was right.
Living in the Wild West certainly changed my perspective concerning levels of fitness. People here are freakishly fit. There's no excuses such as bad knees and hips. If vital parts fail, there are world class doctors at the ready. One gets faulty parts repaired posthaste, finding the perfect new knee or hip for one's lifestyle.
And they get their tush back to doing the activities they love to do pretty darn quick.
Back to to Dr. Alia Crum and mindsets. Listen to the podcast. If nothing else listen to the Milkshake study. You will find links to her published work. Her study on Navy SEALs is intriguing.
Food, health exercise, work.
