Good Morning

"So, you missed the bus?"

"No, I didn't miss the bus. I have a question. If I catch the bus will they drop me off at automotive repair rather than making me ride all the way to town, where I then will need to hitch a ride back to automotive repair?"

He never answered my question. He would need to call me back; drivers were calling for help.

Public transportation.

I never heard back from him, and I didn't call back.

Hitchhike. Last night I thought I would hitchhike to town. I've never stuck out the thumb; really, shouldn't one hitchhike at least once in life?

I have neighbors who would be happy to tote me to town. I hate asking.

Clothes need washed, groceries purchased, water bottles need to be refilled. Hitchhiking — I'm sure the story would be fun to write — wasn't the best choice today.

I message Murat, who taught me nabar (what's up), after I greeted him with merhaba. Murat also referred S1 when I needed a ride to surgery. S1 taught me another phrase. Today Murat referred me to S2. Poor S2 had no clue who he was fetching to take to town, though in short order we were laughing out loud. He let me know the other guys taught me easy stuff. His word for today was günaydın. Günaydın is a simple phrase, it's the pronunciation that can be tricky; Turkish g's and u's are pronounced different than English g's and u's. Günaydın is simply translated ‘good morning’. How cool is that? He probably won't be here if ever I need another ride, but I have his number, S1's number, and Murat's number for referrals and help in time of need.

My little car is home, alternator replaced, and flat fixed. Yep, I had a nail in a tire. I'd been babying the tire along until my next days off as it continued to lose air. Sure enough a nail was removed.

Tonight I'm not feeling like I've had time off. I wish life would slow down a bit, that we all could spend more time smelling roses.

Maggie Rose and I snuggle tight as we ponder life.

I love all y'all.

D
