No news from automotive repair a few minutes ago so I give 'em a ring.
"Automotive repair, this is Kevin."
"Hi Kevin. I have the white Honda Accord, the one towed in last night. Have y'all had time to find the problem?"
Kevin, "Yes." BIG yawn and a pause.
(I'm dying here, stomach in knots, reminding myself I've prayed and God is faithful, but Kevin HURRY UP and get to the point.)
I wait maybe not so patiently.
Wrapping up his major yawn, Kevin breaks it to me ever so gently, "We are getting Napa to warranty the alternator, but since it's out of warranty, you will have to pay for an hour and a half of labor."
"So it definitely is the alternator?" I stupidly ask poor tired Kevin.
"Yes ma'am, but labor will be around $195."
Perspective, Kevin's perspective, my perspective. He's almost apologizing, I'm rejoicing.
I can hardly speak, pausing way too long to get my scat together.
"Thank you GOD. Thank you Kevin. Thank you."
"Yes ma'am. It will be late tomorrow afternoon before you can pick it up."
No problem. Zero. Zilch. None.
"Thank you Kevin."
A year ago January I paid over $700 for a new alternator. With inflation I was naively optimistic one minute, the next minute I was talking myself off the ledge.
I'm grateful. Every dang day I'm grateful.
Life throws stuff often, at each of us, but God Almighty is faithful in all things, always.
Emotionally spent,
D
