Faster

So I listened to Huberman today while cleaning up a massive oil spill, the Exxon Valdez of D’s kitchen. Epic.

That’s another story for another time.

His podcast are long, worth every minute, but long. This is one of the shorter podcast. The good thing: they’re time stamped if one is in a hurry to get to certain subject matter. Per usual lately, this one concerns learning faster.

I really dig his information, as in far out dude.

DISCLAIMER:  Everything you are about to read is paraphrased by me after cleaning up the previously mentioned oil spill. Proceed with caution, watch and listen to the podcast for yourself. Get factual details directly from the researcher.

There’s no such thing as muscle memory, muscles are dumb. It’s neurons and neural pathways, muscles don’t remember.

Burst of epinephrine, adrenaline, after a study session, say coffee, rather than prior to, enhances learning. Kids of course have the advantage, we adults get the short end of the stick, especially vintage adults.

I’m certain I’m an anomaly. I learn better now than at anytime previous.

Huberman and friends say frustration is to everyone’s advantage. Rather than quitting when frustrated, keep working for another 10-15 minutes. Frustration causes an adrenaline dump, and bam, you learn more, efficiently. (I’m paraphrasing.)

I’m perhaps in a perpetual state of frustration, maybe explaining why I continue to learn. Anyway, there are a lot of takeaways for everyone.

Frustration is our friend. After reaching your point of frustration, work a few more minutes. Get frustrated → make mistakes → adrenaline dump → bam, neural pathways are reinforced. Or something like that.

Balance and yoga are included in certain techniques, but if you are already proficient, you will gain little to nothing. (Listen to the podcast.) Your body will look fabulous. We are talking neurons and neural pathways, oversimplified on my part, breaking it down Barney style for me.)

Change things up to continue to improve neuron and neural pathway communication. (Again, paraphrasing.)

You might take a gander sometime. Pretty good stuff.
