I Went There

Snow this morning is beautiful. It's almost as beautiful as the first or second snowfall of winter, except this is April. Temps aren't cold enough for anything to stick around long, but flurries are in the forecast all week. This means mud is abundant, my least favorite part of spring.

I've been craving bison chili. Maggie and I head to the Market, which I love, but prices are a smidge higher than in town. I'm saving gas, I reason.

Not able to find ground bison I ask Bree. She's a doll, accommodating, y'all would love her. She fetches several pounds of bison from her freezer in the back of the store. Good folks are another reason to shop out here when necessary.

Checking out at the register, apparently only one number entered the debit machine, and I didn't realize this until I'd already pressed 'Enter'. Gentleman at the register tells me, "Sometimes it's fussy, you have to treat it like a man: gentle and like a child at times." I laugh out loud. I know how to treat a man, you don’t need to mansplain, and it seems I said this out loud. I won't tell you what he said, he’s silly. He did stick his hand out for a shake, introducing himself, barely cracking a smile, "I'm Jack and I went there."

Again, I laughed, hard. He sure did.

Bison chili cost me, big, but I got out of the house and deep belly laughed, worth every dime.
