Today I share words of wisdom. Texas advisor is heaven sent, integral in changing the course of my life over the years, through her wisdom, support, encouragement, and when needed, gentle correction. Here are a few of her pearls of wisdom.
Those thoughts in your head living rent free — we all have them at any given time, some more than others — only let them run around twice and then mute those thoughts. Hit the mute button.
I learn better with parables, comparisons, analogies, stories, and she, knowing me well, provides plenty of examples. For instance, the Miss America or Miss Universe competitions used to put contestants in a transparent, soundproof box, while asking other contestants current event questions. While in the box other commentary is filtered, other conversations cannot be heard.
Put your intrusive thought(s) in an imaginary transparent box. You can't hear them. Or put yourself in the transparent box, whichever way works for you, but stop pointless attacks on your mind. Decide whether this way of thinking is deserving of your time. Decide, one hour? One day? How long do these thoughts deserve your time and energy? Decide and then act. Roadblock the little pointless life-sucking intrusions.
This is when exploiting is a good thing; exploit positive — positive thoughts, reinforcing good every step of the way.
Examples of actual former voices: Who do you think you are? You think you are better than us, better than everyone. You are stupid, incapable, and everything you touch turns to crap. You will never amount to anything good.
Liars.
These people were and are liars, there was no truth in them. Their very insecurities are tossed out, projected onto anyone who dare break generational curses. How dare anyone want to change their future, especially you. You are SO unworthy.
Liars.
Pshttt.
You and I, we are on to them. We have the power, not them.
Listen to me, launch, attempt that which you need to do. Never give up. Ever.
These are just a few thoughts I've processed through the years, they stopped me from being my best, but only temporarily.
What's stopping you?
