“I really think you should read for New York blah blah. Your voice is so soothing.”
Get. Out.
I absolutely hate hearing my voice. I want to ask, “So it’s not like fingernails down a chalkboard?”
Another:
“You smell as good as you look.”
O. M. G.
We laughed uproariously, totally disturbing the peace.
And then the serious from yet another:
“I was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer several years ago. Recently, during a three-month check-up, spots were found on my lungs. There’s only one other person who’s had the same type cancer as mine. The oncologist suggested chemotherapy and radiation. Again. Based on what I ask? One other person in the world who’s had this particular cancer? No, I’ll pass, thank you.”
We wept a little.
Even with this person’s life falling apart around them they invite me to California, should I want to visit, writes down all contact info for me. I ask you to pray for healing for them and for the saving knowledge of Jesus.
Life seems complicated. It’s not though, is it?
Be a light in a hurting world. Listen to those who simply need a friend to listen, to lighten a heavy burden, if only for a moment.
Inspiring people touched my life this week, each in their own way.
Thank you, God, for those who cross my path. And bless them please.
Amen and amen.
