She’s ridiculously funny, has a heart the size of Texas, and has lived numerous lives in her 70+ years. I ask if she’s written a memoir, no she has not. You must, I implore her. You’ve lived an extraordinary, almost unbelievable life, the story begs to be told. "If only you knew," she replies. Ha! I know enough to know I want to learn more.
Every time we visit I urge her yet again to write the book.
Married a few times, perhaps an affair here and there, idk, she told me a story about Zsa Zsa Gabor chatting with Johnny Carson. Zsa Zsa told Johnny her title should be “Head of Foreign Affairs.” 🤣 If you are old enough to remember Zsa Zsa, she was a busy little lady. My acquaintance tells me 'all' her former boyfriends and spouses love to come see her. 🤣 Politically well connected, her life fascinates me, what a life it’s been.
I pulled up Zsa Zsa memes later that evening. Zsa Zsa was sassy, beautiful, funny, classy, and a romantic. An old school beauty, she was politically incorrect back before humanity became butt-hurt over satire and comedy. I love reading her quotes. Check them out sometime on Pinterest.
I miss old school beauty. I miss words like woo and enchanting, I think others miss words like these and implied graciousness associated with them. A perfect example is when I would write my profile for dating sites after my divorce. Attention was paid by gentlemen to words such as "woo me," including those ten and fifteen years younger than me. Our harsh world begs for soft and gentle. Beside that, a gentleman knows what he's getting into from the get-go, the expectations. (Don’t think for a minute by ‘soft and gentle’ I mean meekly submissive. Soft and gentle can gut you in a New York minute.)
What are your favorite long-lost words? Resplendent? Audacity? Whilst?
I want to tell my lovely acquaintance's story some time. The time is not now.
Trust me, she's a jewel.
