There are days words just aren't there. No matter how much I would like them to be, they just aren't there.
Perhaps fatigue.
And then, there are days I can't type fast enough.
Like today.
I'm listening to podcasts, reading favorite authors, and my mind takes off, along with my fingers on the keyboard...scary, right?
One thing I know for sure, if I'm thinking or feeling something, chances are very good others are as well. I'm not THAT unique. So I share my experiences and thoughts hoping to encourage others. After all, if I've made it this far, you my friends are destined for greatness.
Remind God: If you did this for Debbie, you are no respecter of persons, and you can do this for me.
He is faithful.
I don't know Scott's faith (former Green Beret), I suspect a strong faith. He, like many people I listen to or read their written words, may not realize spiritual, biblical implications.

Regimen
Ritual
Rigor
Recovery
Discipline equals freedom (Jocko Willink)
Here's a very brief synopsis of what I learned this morning:
Micro recoveries...we are consumed on every side, by work, family obligations, stress, and of course one messed up government.
(Which I might add is our fault. When election time comes we think, okay, who's the lesser of two evils? When did we begin to settle for second best? Why? Why are morals compromised, and then 'suddenly' there are no morals? Oh yeah...sin. It's simple, really.)
Okay, back to topic...
Remember sympathetic state, stress response, versus parasympathetic state, relaxed state. (Oversimplification.)
I'm not qualified to teach this, research...
Scott talks about recovery from regimen, ritual, and rigor. When he spoke of this, I thought of my trusted Texas advisor. She told me, "In the practical world, say mountains, driving in the wrong gear all the time is not sustainable. Some times you have to down-shift."
(Have I told you lately how God has placed life-saver, quality, intelligent people in my life? Yeah, at every turn.)
Basically, Scott is saying the same thing, down-shift. We must take the time to recover. This may come in forms of "micro recoveries". For instance deep diaphragm breathing, he suggest perhaps three. We have time to refocus with three simple deep breaths. Or micro workouts. I try to remember to do ten squats numerous times throughout the day. Or ten sets of lat pull-downs with a band. Ten lunges...By the end of the day, I've accomplished something, small but SOMETHING.
Recover. Recovery is imperative, crucial.
He suggest learning and implementing these strategies when the risk is low. I compare this to building our faith savings account. We don't want to wait until a catastrophe to build our faith account. We want to make deposits often, so when we need to make withdrawals, we have sufficient funds in our account. Or compare it to teaching a drowning man how to swim. Is it impossible? No. Probable? No. Prepare ahead of time. Does this make sense? We fill ourself with the Word daily, for a reason. We write scripture on the tablets of our hearts, memorizing scripture. We want to be able to say, "God, your word says...and I ask you in the name of Jesus to....".
Scott's podcast is short and sweet, pure wisdom. Give it a listen.
