‘Twas a little too quiet today. I don’t know what I will do with myself when we slow our roll this fall.
I was able to catch up on a little paper work, getting ducks in a row for the remainder of our trunk season.
I hear rustling of paper or something, spa side. Odd really for the spa to make noise, cause a ruckus. A bit later more rustling, disturbing my quiet work environment. I look up where rustling is occuring. I be dang. There’s a squirrel in our office, on the very top shelf.
Security, we have a situation…there is a squirrel in the attic.
Are you sure it’s not a chipmunk? Excuse me? NO I’m not sure…he’s fast, looks bigger than a vol or a chipmunk. But he’s certainly not a Texas size squirrel.
When I move or talk he runs back up in the attic. I pull out a few nuts for him. When I run out of nuts, croutons keep him happy.
I’ve known him one day and we are bff’s.
Pest control and engineering bring a live trap, I fill it with croutons and Parmesan cheese chips. And we wait.
I’m out of nuts. But I AM nuts tonight. My job description ran the gamut today.
Trying to lock up and get home, a couple of lovely ladies stop in. Come see my squirrel I tell them. Your SQUIRREL, they laugh in disbelief. Once they see my squirrel they’re calling other friends to come look.
“Yeah, I’ve known him thirty minutes and we are best friends.”
He’s no longer afraid of me, and waits patiently for me to provide more snacks. No telling how long he’s been up there.
He’s famished.
Isn’t he the cutest thing? Poor baby.
The life of Deb.
Seldom dull.
