Today’s Lesson: Facial Expressions
I never knew just how expressive I was until about six years ago. I began working around mirrors when I began my new life. Have I shared with you I don’t like looking in the mirror? It’s true, I don’t. (I don’t like cameras either, not even a little.)
These days I’m surrounded by mirrors. I’m admittedly a little shallow, a tiny, tiny bit, and maybe a tad vain, I’m just being honest. So, my inner critic goes to work:
“Your hair looks pitiful today. Is that a new wrinkle? I swear it wasn’t there yesterday. Lose a pound or ten. Is that your whiny voice you’re using today? Oh, you’re practicing your Resting Bark Face I see...”
Shush, just shush. Look in the mirror missy and find one thing to be happy about. Breathing, pretty content, no beard or shaggy eyebrows, awkward fake smile...thick hair, I have thick hair. My daughter told me to let it grow. I did and it makes me feel beautiful.
Good job. Relax, reign in the Lucy expressions. Now, ignore the mirrors the rest of the day. We have more important things to tend to today.
A little Resting Bark Face isn't a bad thing. Not everyone needs to know what you're thinking at any given time. Let 'em wonder.
Don’t judge. Yourself or others.
