My Hip Hop Name

Many moons ago I had the pleasure of working with a nice gentleman. Most of the time I have no idea who people are. I live a quiet life and enjoy solitude. I don't have cable or satellite, so I'm as surprised as anyone when I meet movers and shakers. I didn’t realize who he was, really didn’t care. He came back a second time. The person I'm working with asks me, “Do you know who he is?” No.... She tells me he wrote Beyoncé’s “All the Single Ladies”, Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and on it goes. He's a Grammy winner. Well, my goodness.

He’s leaving to go home, walks up to me, tells me he has something for me. It’s in a gorgeous black box with gold trim. A black, hand poured candle his wife made. Beautiful. Smells delicious.

I tell him I didn’t know who he was, so I googled him. I asked him why he has the name “The Dream”. An uncle always said he was a dreamer. I tell him, “And you made it.” He smiled big, "Yes, I did." After I get a hug, I ask him what my hip-hop name would be. We both laugh. He throws his hands up in the air. Glory, he tells me, Glory.

I told my kids the grandkids can now call me Glory. (Not OLD Glory, just Glory.)

So, when a new song comes out about Glory, that's me baby.

Who gave you your hip-hop name?
