Just Browsing

She is 83, just browsing.

She tells me she shouldn’t buy anything, she should be giving stuff away. Her family has scheduled a five hour wildlife tour tomorrow. I’m not sure I can ride that long, she tells me. I don’t like riding that long either, I tell her, but the company you will be touring with is excellent. I’m sure they’ve scheduled lunch and taken breaks into consideration.

She decides to make a few purchases and needs to get her wallet. She tells me her husband passed away a year and a half ago. Alzheimer’s. He was 84. They were married 61 years. I forget exactly how she worded it, something to the effect of she didn’t know how to take care of him, and then when he died, that’s all she wanted to do, take care of him.

I nearly lost my stuff.

I told her she’s living, for a reason, maybe it was just to come in and talk to me today, I needed her. I told her if she wanted those items and they make her smile, purchase them. It’s not like you are buying diamonds. But if you want diamonds, I have those too. We laughed. And then we hugged, both a little weepy.

I didn't realize I needed her that day, but I did. We all need each other, we work best together. Listen to the stories, everyone has one. Prepare to be blessed.

God is good.
