Decency and Respect

When I go to work, I don't need my employer to tell me not to sing our national anthem to each guest who walks through the doors.

I don't recite the Pledge of Allegiance, though I feel allegiance deep in my soul.

I don't need anyone telling me I shouldn't take a knee, each time a guest walks through the door.

Our military do not require ethnic backgrounds of individuals before they fight for freedom, for the oppressed. They do their job.

No one needs to tell me my personal beliefs may not jive with the personal beliefs of others.

I'm paid to do a job, be nice to guests, provide stellar customer service, and provide exceptional product knowledge. My job is to respect others. If even one of these are not followed, I've failed my employer. I will have broken an unspoken contract, simple niceties are an unspoken contract.

There is no college degree needed to realize elementary principles.

Athletes make a helluva lot more than me, with plenty of benefits. Why are they not held to the same standards, any standards?

I'm Texan — football, all sports, is part of my DNA. I cannot adequately describe, no matter how many words in the English language, how disillusioned I am with all sports.
