Sweat is a Good Thing

Recently I read an independent gym owner's response to re-opening, in Texas. As I’ve gotten older, I seem to work out harder and longer, when I’m with my gym family. Gym time in Jackson, WY is exceedingly expensive. The cost of living and doing business is expensive, so I get it. There are plenty of ways to exercise here, the weather is perfect, offering many ways to get my sweat on. It’s all about discipline.

Last week, out of the blue, Yvi messaged me (from Texas) about Zoom and ATTACK. And then Flow (yoga/Pilates). This week she will add Grit. (Gold’s Gym, Bryan AND College Station, was my home away from home, providing much needed mental relief with each workout.) So, seeing familiar faces, and hearing familiar voices blessed my socks off. I needed her and my Texas folks, and I didn’t know I how much I needed them.

Asking her a couple days ago if there is a cost, do I need to pay a fee, her answer was no, no cost. This is a big freaking deal, not many offer something for nothing. I’m grateful.

Moving our bodies, working out, protects us mentally and physically, especially during difficult times. We’re better able to fight off sickness, illness, and disease when we are physically fit. We clear our minds, focus on the next breath, get out of our heads for a bit each day.

Working out is essential.

Today Maggie and I took a gentle five miler. Life is good.
