Maggie and I feel the same way when we are outside. She’s running and bouncing all over the place, welcoming every dog and their owner. I would do this too except everyone may not be as receptive or understanding. We do like animals and people though. A lot.
Today was our first five miles in quite some time. I do smile and greet people, if they dare make eye contact. (Even with headphones on and my music cranked up. It’s easy to be nice.)
A gentleman passed us, skate skiing. I’ve not been on my skate skis in over a year. When he came back by I told him people like him frustrate me. Why, he asks. Because you make it look so easy, effortless, and it’s not. Well, I’ve been doing it for fifty years. Oh, so you’re an old fart? (No, I didn’t say the last part. But I might have thought it. He, of course, was in really good shape. Most people here are.) He smiled big, nice man.
You can almost breathe in the fresh mountain air, hear the sound of the Snake, the sounds of nature, simply by looking at pictures. Try it. I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t experience this, God’s beautiful handiwork. Wyoming has healed me, made me strong again.
Grateful,
D
