After our walk today Maggie just couldn't keep her lead paw off the accelerator. Before I know it she's doing 40 in a 30 and we get pulled over. Of course I take the heat.
Before the officer can say anything I begin apologizing, I knew how fast we were going even before I saw the red lights. All the pertinent paperwork was in hand.
Officer: Do you know how fast your were going?
Me: Yes sir, 40. And I knew I was speeding and I was slowing down, just not fast enough. I'm so sorry. (I verbally vomit. Nothing new.)
He takes the paperwork and heads back to his SUV. I'm deciding when the best time to begin defensive driving will be, scolding Maggie for getting us into this predicament, and checking out Facebook while waiting for the officer.
He walks up to my window, hands me my paperwork, and tells me he's only giving me a warning. What??? I can't believe what he just said. I SO wanted to hop out and hug him. Probably wouldn't have been the thing to do. I thank him profusely.
I've been fortunate to be pulled over by the nicest officers.
