Peace Like A River

Not long before moving to our tiny little place on the Snake River...

February 2016

I was a little stir crazy yesterday, waiting for our new home, sitting in the motel. Who’s fault is that? Mine. So, I load Maggie Rose in the car and we take a mini road trip. First stop, our new home, a drive-by. Lots of work going on out there. I’m not sure we will be able to move in March 1st, but we will see. But let me tell you, it is a beautiful drive to Hoback. To this day, I cannot believe I am allowed to live smack dab in the middle of such beauty.

Side note, ADD—squirrel:  It snowed yesterday. The largest flakes I’ve ever seen. What is it about snow and mountains that calm my spirit; renews my spirit? I feel the same way when I’m on a beach listening to seagulls, and waves rolling to the beach. Adam Sandler, my personal therapist, reminds me, “Goosfraba! That’s good. Slower. Goosfraba. How do you feel? Better.”

Back to the story…after checking out progress on the area around our new home, MR and I decide a trip to Teton Village would be nice. A quick trip, as it was getting late, and I don’t like to stray too far from home. There are no words to describe the beauty of The Village. (Years ago, we traveled to New Mexico, Red River, Angel Fire, and Taos. I thought it didn’t get any better.) The Tetons are the backdrop for Teton Village. Magnificent, resplendent, striking, majestic, stately, exquisite, stunning…these words all describe the view, however inadequately. The evening was overcast, so the peaks of the mountains were hidden beneath the clouds. Never in my life have I witnessed such beauty. Allure, grace, elegance, strength…I returned home in awe, experiencing wonderment, reverence, respect. And peace.
