I enjoyed my first sleigh ride today. In our sleigh were people from Montana, North Dakota, Idaho, and Wyoming. I enjoy chatting everyone up, learning about all the places I would like to travel. Bald eagles were in flight, coyotes were on the prowl, elk were plentiful. All God's creatures. Life is good.
Beautiful creatures. Over 7000 Elk, and over 600 Bison, on the refuge as of February 8th.
Lady and Tramp pulled our sleigh, real troopers, gorgeous horses.
One more story real quick. Of course there were children along for the ride. One little bitty fella, maybe four years old, made mewing sounds, and I be daggum if mama cow didn't begin calling her little one back to the herd. Meredith, our guide, stopped the sleigh, and encouraged little bit to continue mewing. From the opposite side of the sleigh, a little elk comes running. Very cool.
One more bit of trivia; 70-80 % of the cows we viewed today are pregnant!
