I don't know what to get you for Christmas, he tells me, you wear the most beautiful jewels in the world. He's right. Besides, I don't need or want jewels. A gift isn't needed, friendship is. Good friends are priceless.
Guess what I needed, wanted? A flashlight. Guess what I received? Three flashlights! THREE! One for my bag, one for my car, and a gorgeous Texas A&M Aggie maroon Maglight. The Aggie maroon brought a smile, a big smile, intentional or not, blessings overflowed, tears almost overflowed. Don't cry he tells me. I didn't, kinda, sorta, absolutely not. The other two are my classic black fave, they zoom, they're ultra bright, include five modes, and they get a session of yoga in while I'm at work. Not really, almost though. I had fun playing with them last night, illuminating everything, zooming, irritating Maggie and George, feed us already, they tell me.
I open the next box, a black and white canvas print of a gorgeous downed pine at a non-disclosed location in a neighboring state, taken by my dear friend. (This is a heck of a run-on sentence, but necessary.) What is it about black and white I find so appealing? The word 'pine' reminds me of my beloved Texas. So many feelings in one picture.
Even the card included in my gift bag was touching, beautiful.
This has been the best Christmas in Wyoming to date.
Life keeps getting better.
Thank you, my friend.
