A former colleague brought me lunch this week.
Initially he asked if I get a lunch...not at this time I tell him, but if he wants to bring me a sammie, or broccoli, or whatever, that would be great. Otherwise we can share a sammie, or nuts, or grapes, whatever I bring.
A huge deli sandwich, chips, soft drink and great company, conversation, this was lunch. I’ve missed my friend, a good friendship.
He brought me a gift, a gorgeous photo he took of Wild Goose Island (Saint Mary Lake in Glacier National Park). Included with my gift was a four pack of 50ml Fireball Whiskey.
I laughed out loud. Debbie size whiskey, 50ml lasts me a long, long time, so I’m set for life. (I have two bottles in my freezer from when Maggie went missing, along with Grey Goose.) And Gentleman Jack on my counter top. Sounds like it’s party time at my place.
The last seven years, well they’ve been the best years of my life. New friends, many who’ve lived lives I’ve only read or dreamed about. They share stories, and then I share stories, their stories. And my stories.
I purchased s’mores for our dessert and he was on his way.
Let’s not wait so long next time.
Merry Christmas, sweet friend, to you and your family.
And thank you.
I’m blessed.
