From my dentist:
“Oh Debbie, I’m so sorry. This only happens once or twice a year. The infection is in the tissue and has caused a localized cellulitis. At this point there is not a lot you can do. The infection is too thick to drain so usually we try to give the antibiotics another day to break it down. Things you can do: take one extra clindamycin for the next few days, so four total spread out through the day, cold packs may help, eat something soup, yogurt, ensure..Thing to watch for: If you start to run a fever, you may need to go to the ER, this rarely happens but monitor. I wish a had a quick fix for you. Keep me posted. Once the antibiotics get the upper hand the swelling and pain will go away quickly, usually happens within 24 hours.”
I despise the words “rarely happens” as these rarely happen events usually find me. Swelling has increased. I hope the swelling is as bad as it gets, begins to subside, and I get my normal face back soon, without pain.
(Winning the lottery rarely happens, wonder if I should play more than once a year?)
I have pain meds, plus I have most of knee surgery pain meds left. And I'm taking them.
Drugs (and I seldom say that) are all I need, and I have those. I’m not afraid to use them. This stuff hurts.
I just can't believe this. But God is faithful.
I’m weary, tired of everything. But I’m tough.
He knows I need to work, but there’s no other treatment, aside from more antibiotics. If I begin to run a fever, I will need IV antibiotics. Hopefully we caught it in time. I’m known for waiting too long to go to the doctor, almost like those with penis’s.
My colleagues have my back, they’ve been good to me, again, and are covering my shift, plural if necessary.
I sure hope they (my colleagues) aren’t necessary, and I can work tomorrow.
The first picture was around lunch today. The last, a few minutes ago. I’m having a hard time catching the ‘Alvin’ look, the swelling. Trust me, it’s there, inside and out.
Say a little prayer.
Thank you.
xoxo
