JWG and Peggy

So you know our friend, Peggy? Well, she told me about specials during off season, at one of our local grocers. Today was BOGO free rotisserie chicken. Guess where I stopped after work. Yes indeed. Smart, really smart marketing. I pick up a few other items not on my list, but they too were on sale, so there...justified purchases. Eye roll.

Preparing to checkout at the register, Ruth walks over to me and asks me if I need any help shopping, did I find everything I need, can she assist me with my purchases. You are so kind, Ruth. No, I’m good, but thank you. What happened, why the crutches she asked. I give her the abbreviated version. I then tell her I just got off work and heard about off season specials, so I stopped by to make a few purchases. Get this—she tells me, “and with all of this going on, you still manage to look glamorous”. Oh. My. Goodness. Glamour was not sitting in the help-me cart, in my humble, tired opinion. However, she made my day.

Glamour...pshhtt.

(Side note, which may or may not come as a surprise to my Texas fashionista friends...at one point someone suggested my clothes aren't stylish enough...I have you know...) At that time, I cried more than laughed. Now I think well you gaudy thing, you can kiss my country ass. I shouldn't say this, badmouth anyone. Judgements sometimes beg a response. I didn't, but don't push me. I don't want to lose my glamour status.

Just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, fashion perception can be subjective. So, if I run a little vanilla, plain, my hair and boobs make up for flash. Maybe.

(When you are paying for my wardrobe, feel free to criticize.)

Jaya checked my groceries, helped me figure out other specials, I tell Jaylin, who was helping Jaya and Ruth, I’m from Texas, I love Taco Tuesdays. Jaylin tells me, man y’all know how to party in Texas. I laugh, yeah the closer you get to Austin, the bigger the party. We all are laughing by now.

Rockin’ off season specials because of a generous owner, folks ready to help with my shopping as I ride a scooter around the store, and being showered with a lovely compliment— I’ve always liked this particular store. Tonight I like it even more. The specials are generous and provide numerous meals throughout the week.

Ruth, Jaya, and Jaylin provided additional blessings.

Peggy darling, you blessed me again. Thank you, dear.

Jackson Whole Grocer I'll be back.
