I Count My Blessings

The boss snuck in on her day off to drop off a bag of pure delight. I asked her if she was bringing us a bottle of wine. She gracefully ignored me. Later, I see it has my name on it. I LOVE treats.

A delicious fragrance fills our office, lavender. The card, well, it touched my heart.

Inside my bag was all kinds of goodies, aside from lavender. Cocoa, cheese crackers, Moon Pie, a magazine, a sweet bracelet made by my colleague, and a gift card for $50. She knows the way to my heart. And my wallet.

My colleague is a survivor. She gives back, often.

I find myself thinking how in the world I will ever be able to pay forward all the kindness extended to me. Oh, but I will. I'll find a way, watch and listen for opportunities.

I've not had a Moon Pie in a couple decades. Each evening after dinner, a bite of Moon Pie was my dessert. Just a touch of something sweet. This morning I polished off that baby, along with my coffee. Each time I took a bite, I felt a little nostalgia, days gone by.

Thank you, my friend, for watching out for me, for treating me like a queen, the queen we know we both are meant to be.

xoxo
