Big Truck

Several weeks ago, I pull into my driveway, and a big truck with a huge trailer was taking up a large portion of parking space.

Really my only concern was that All Hat and No Cattle didn’t raise heck because I blocked his view. It doesn’t matter to me where anyone parks, as long as I get a spot. But AHNC can be obnoxious.

Anyway, big truck owner shows up. I ask him if he knows where his trailer was made. He looks at me like perhaps I’m the obnoxious one. Big Tex, I tell him, sounding all Texan. Big Tex trailers, do you know where they’re made? No, he tells me...Mount Pleasant, Texas. Priefert is also in Mount Pleasant. And you have a Big Tex trailer.

Ah, well, it’s my brother-in-law's.

Leaving for work yesterday, a gentleman is all smiley. Big truck owner. How are you, he asks. This time it’s my turn to look at him like he’s obnoxious, took me a minute to realize who he was.

Ah, I smile, jewelry, jewelry, jewelry, I tell him. I’m headed to The Village. I love it out there, it’s like driving to heaven every day. And you, how are you? Life is REAL good, he tells me, still smiling. Good (Texas good, say it with gusto), I reply.

Nice start to the day. Everyone’s happy with life. We are probably happy with life because we’ve made a choice to be happy.

Nice way to live.
