As I learn of philanthropic opportunities, I will share them with you. Giving, whether with our physical presence, actual hands on work, or through monetary contributions, we benefit personally and collectively, throughout the world.
I should have been a missionary. My heart beats for women, children and animals. My love for all of the world, mankind, however, is real. Extensive.
I first learned of STEAM Camp in 2016. A former Texas A&M student and Peace Corp volunteer is the Director of Education and Programs.
Excitement of the students and volunteers is palpable, contagious, through the videos.
I pulled the following from the website. Click the picture below to be taken to The Hope of Guinea.
"In 2016 we began our yearly summer STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) Camp for students in Conakry, Guinea. In a country where access to education is very limited, we hope to ignite enthusiasm for educational advancement with interactive experiments, problem solving activities, and field trips.
The camp provides the students with innovative learning opportunities that most of them have not been exposed to prior to attending our camp. We encourage cross learning that engages the students’ critical thinking and sharpens, refines and refreshes their skills and fosters creativity. We address issues such as gender equality by inspiring confidence in female students in the classroom for a brighter future. We take a unique approach to education with local teachers and returned Peace Corps volunteers both with technical and cultural skills to address educational barriers.
During the camp we train Guinean teachers to design and execute STEAM after school programs in their schools – this extends the camp’s mission to continue throughout the school year. In 2018, the after school programs will begin at 5 schools in Conakry and 10 schools in villages across Guinea."
Be ready to be blessed.
