Blessed Beyond Measure

Putting drops in my eyes, I step to the back for a brief moment. The chime tells me someone walked through the doors. Never did I realize the impact this couple would have on my life.

Conversation flowed, so easy, between all of us.

A gorgeous lady, long brown hair, she browsed as her husband and I exchanged stories. Dallas, they are from the Dallas area. College Station, I tell them. Our son, Jake, graduated from A&M, he's 35. Oh my, I have a son, Jake, 35 on Christmas Eve. And on we go, story after story.

I get to view pictures of the ranch outside of Springtown, magnificent pictures, animals too—y'all know how I love animals. We talk of mutual acquaintances. We talk of remembering the book isn't about the cover, my words.

I'll think of other bits and pieces of this conversation, to be sure, but for now I want to get the story written, the highlights.

The gentleman mentions their church. Prestonwood? No, Gateway. Well my goodness.

As we wrap our conversation and they prepare to leave, I ask if I can get a hug. Both are receptive, I get good Texas hugs.

The story gets even better. Y'all know I'm a believer, have been since I heard the name Jesus. The gentleman ask if they can pray with me. Seriously! He tells me he felt they were supposed to, from the time they walked through the doors. He asks if it's okay to pray where we are standing, would we be breaking any rules. Not to my knowledge. I hope there never comes a time when we can't pray for one another, where ever we choose, but we never know.

Of course I reply, don't make me cry, I'm a soft heart.

He then asks if there is something specific they can pray for, a need. Oh my goodness. Yes. Direction.

We prayed together, in agreement. The most powerful prayer was prayed by this man, a stranger before today.

I know without a doubt I have friends and family praying for me. Without a doubt. But can I tell you, I can't remember the last time someone asked if they could pray for me, in person. My soul was fed a big glorious feast.

Do you know how it feels when anointing flows? We don't want to go by feels, emotions. Spiritually, we want to discern. When something is genuine and real,  you know it in your knower. I know in my knower the power of this prayer.

People of all walks of life randomly (not) come into my life, make brief appearances, and then they're gone.

Today, Michelle and Dane Freeman touched my life forever. I don't know when or how, but this prayer will be answered in a mighty way.

Good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over—this scripture comes to mind.

(I asked permission to use names for this story. Permission was granted. Y'all know I don't advertise, or receive compensation for the blog. I WILL tell you this, were I ever in the market for a new Toyota or Honda, I would visit Freeman in Texas, in a heartbeat. Character and integrity are rare these days. So rare. I experienced both in spades today.)

Amen and amen.
