My, What a Big Needle You Have

At times our bodies throw us a few curve balls. Such has been the case lately in the Serenity household. For a month, my right knee felt tight, as if fluid collected, inflammation, or both. Can there be one without the other?

My cranky britches self finally convinced me it was time to see an ortho. Each medical practice in the West is good, I suppose. The practice I use is far superior, but of course. Following X-rays, mashing, twisting, bending, poking, encouraged multiple times to ‘just relax’ (apparently you do not know who you are dealing with), we got down to business. Seems I have a Baker's cyst, a not uncommon condition. The possibility of other funny business hasn’t been ruled out, but for now Dr. Hot Stuff drained fluid from my knee. Steroids were then injected. Dr. HS  and PA didn’t hurt me one time, sticking me with the big A needle. I thought this type thing should be painful. Nope. No pain.

Conservative treatment, throw in a little ice, and occasional ibuprofen, and I'm feeling pretty spiffy. Time to get back to the trails.

MY doctor HS was also very good at keeping me away from pain while draining calcium deposits from the front (over kneecap). No steroid shots. Later ended up removing my bursa and I healed perfectly in 6 weeks. Meanwhile, a podiatrist gave me a steroid shot in my baby toe for a bursa problem.....and I have decided that I will just live with the pain I have. NEVER again. Glad you are on the mend!
