So Mom comes home from work, and after a potty break for me, she prepares a tostada. I wait patiently for my bits of chicken. Not really, I want chicken now, fast.
Before sitting down for dinner, she opens the dining room window. The wind is picking up. Wind makes me nervous. We have lots of wind in the West. I shake a little. Mom slides the window almost closed, not quite. Oh no, dear me, it's beginning to rain, peacefully I will admit, but it's raining, nevertheless. The sky will come crashing down, I'm fairly certain. That's what rain does, right? It meets land, crashes down on a peace-loving schnauzer's world? Oh please stop the rain!
We sit on the sofa. I'm shaking, a lot. I'm gonna die, I just know it, I feel it in my bones. In case she doesn't feel me shaking, when she crosses her legs and gets good and comfortable, I slide right up under her booty. (She could herd cattle with that thing.) I KNOW she feels me shaking now. "Maggie Rose, why must you shake? Rain is a good thing, peaceful." Well, Mom, I'm a little nervous, anxious, and my death is imminent. Say your goodbyes, mama, hurry, I'm fading fast. I see the light...Uhmazzzing graaccce.
Oh Maggie, you little drama queen.
Mom loves on me, and feeds me a bit more chicken. I feel better. My strength is returning, I'm Super Schnauzer. I'm okay, I'm really okay! Hallelujah, it's a miracle! See? Magic. A little love and a good meal fixes everything.
Thank you Mom for loving me, for sharing your chicken, and for sheltering me in the rain.
xo,
Maggie Rose 🐾
