I learned early on there is a "windshield season" in Wyoming. This week I will receive my yearly windshield replacement.
Cracked from side to side, mirroring a vast mountain range, it’s long overdue.
During winter I sometimes forget to turn my windshield wipers off when I arrive home. The next morning the wipers are frozen when I start my car, and on occasion I forget I left them on the previous day. Not good. As a result, my passenger side wiper didn't work the last time I had the windshield replaced. I'd intended to YouTube videos to see how to repair whatever I could get to with a screwdriver, wrench, or maybe a hammer.
When the gentleman brought my keys back to me after the repair, he asked if I was having any problems with my passenger side wiper. Phsttt, yeah, I tell him. Not anymore, he replies. It was completely unhinged. He fixed it for me. Didn't blink, didn't ask for $500. He just fixed my windshield wiper. How many people do something nice for others these days, without expecting an arm and a leg in return?
This past winter I was careful to ensure my wipers were off, before turning off my car, and running upstairs. There will be no known surprises for whomever is tasked with changing out my windshield this year.
Wouldn't it be kinda cool if we were like that: Ma'am you were completely unhinged, but not anymore. I fixed you. Or it might be kinda weird. Just thinking.
